In 1955, French song writers Gilbert Becaud and Pierre DeLanoe wrote a song they titled “Je T’appartiens”, which translates literally as “I Belong to You”.   A few years later, American songwriter Mann Curtis created a set of English lyrics to match the tune, and in 1960, it became a mega-hit for the Everly Brothers as “Let It Be Me”, remaining in the top 10 of the Billboard charts for 10 weeks.   It has also been recorded by Chet Atkins, the Lettermen, Herb Alpert, Elvis Presley, Willie Nelson, and Bob Dylan. This 2-part arrangement is based on the vocal harmonies of the Everlys.
