“(Somewhere) Over the Rainbow” was written by Harold Arlen (music) and Yip Harburg (lyrics) in 1939 for the classic Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer feature film “The Wizard of Oz”.  Singer/actress Judy Garland was cast in the role of Dorothy Gale for that film, and this song became her signature tune for the rest of her career.  It won the Academy Award for best song, and also topped the American Film Institute’s “100 Years, 100 Songs” list.

The mountain dulcimer arrangement presented in this teaching CD is intended to be played in either a flat-picking or finger-picking style.
