available for selected tunes/arrangements. Each CD contains
approximately 60 minutes of instruction, taking the student through
the tunes step by step, note by note, chord by chord, gradually
working up speed, and culminating with "play along" tracks at the
end. Students learn new techniques and new tunes at the same time.
It's like having a workshop instructor in your living room - except
that you can hit "rewind" or "repeat" for those tricky sections!

If I Only Had A (Brain/Heart/Nerve) “If I Only Had A Brain” was written by Harold Arlen (music) and Yip Harburg (lyrics) in 1939 for the classic Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer feature film “The Wizard of Oz”, featuring Ray Bolger (Scarecrow), Jack Haley (Tin Man), and Bert Lahr (Cowardly Lion). Separate verses were written for these 3 characters using the same melody line, which detailed the separate reasons for their quest to see the Wizard. Of the three, the Scarecrow’s quest for a brain is probably the one best known and remembered. It has been recorded by such notables as Harry Connick Jr, the Four Freshman, Kay Kyser, Kenny Lee Lewis, and Claudia Schmidt. The mountain dulcimer arrangement presented in this teaching CD is in D-A-d tuning, and is intended to be played in either a flat-picking or finger-picking style.
